Presenting my first Capsule Series
September is already around the corner!
And as usual it's packed with Design events in many European cities. Brussels has its own share, and I am proud to take part in the festivities.
I’m debuting a new collection in Brussels on September 11. It’s a bit of a new start and a slightly new direction so if you’re used to the clean lines of my Candlestix and the geometric shapes of my Adaptable, you’re in for a surprise!
But let me start from the beginning:
Uptown Design is an art and design tour and event
taking place in the Uptown district in Brussels where all the fancy boutiques are located (mostly on Boulevard de Waterloo and Rue de Namur). Now at its 5th edition, Uptown Design invites designers to exhibit their work in the district's stores for two weeks. The entire tour includes 30 locations and designers (you can find the map and more info here).
Avandi's first capsule series will be hosted by Obumex
in their Brussels showroom.
Creator of bespoke interiors, Obumexstands for timeless and long lasting design and craftsmanship. Values that I share and have built Avandi on. Their eye for balanced design inspired me, and I was able to search through their quality materials to create my own compositions. Solid oak, ayou, mirror, fabric and leather constituted strong starting points for this new collection. The stones I collected from their provider Van Den Weghe, really drove it home.
The Reflected Matter series will feature one-of-a-kind pieces
These happily dance over the line between art and design, challenging the question of function in design. It is a material experiment and reflection, inspired by natural shapes or imperfections, methodically revealing the beauty of discarded elements.
